Lacrosse

It's lacrosse season in our house and all four kids are playing this year!

7U boys: Ben so far does not love lacrosse. It's very aggressive for the boys, but he is having fun while he plays. Currently he says he doesn't want to play next year though. He scored a goal in his first game, though! And he is a very fast runner. You can see what I mean about the aggression though when you watch the video with a kid giving a late hit after he had already scored.

7U girls: I was so proud of them - we only had 2 girls who had ever played before and they won and tied their first two games. Rosie scored four goals her first weekend! I am helping coach this team with a friend.

Rosie feeling herself:

9U girls: This team also had only 3 girls returning and lots of new faces. They came together and won both of their first two games. Jane scored an impressive 6 goals and seems to have found her stride as a middie. They have a lot of heart!

11U girls: They had to split their team into two this year because they had too many players which diluted the talent a bit. They lost their first two games but only by 2 goals each time and they are finding their stride on a bigger field.

Eleanor trying goalie at practice:

Our first Saturday we had games from 9am to 5pm all down in Virginia Beach. The kids were so tired on the way home!

Looking forward to the rest of the season!

Eclipse 2024

Everyone was pretty excited about the eclipse this year. I believe we were at 87% totality here in Williamsburg. The schools acquired glasses for all the kids so they could go outside to watch and I got a few pictures from teachers:

I watched from the backyard and Chris got to watch from work while it got weirdly dark outside.

Then the bus dropped the kids off and they got to experience the last few minutes on our walk home.

Last eclipse we were down in North Carolina on vacation and the twins weren't born yet... what a fun and unique experience.

Spring break - the rest of it

This Spring Break was a bit crazy for us because Chris had a busy week at work, I had quarterly deadlines for both of my jobs, and I was helping with the kids' school yearbook, which had to be turned in that week. We still tried to make it fun for the kids!

We went to Busch Gardens one night after dinner with friends...

Chris took the kids to the library and crafting...

While we were up in the D.C. area, we went to Burke Lake Park.

We re-created this fun picture of Eleanor and Jane from Thanksgiving of 2015

We also ran over to Ellanor C. Lawrence Park while Chris was checking out a nearby brewery.

Overall it was a great break!

Spring Break - Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum

The next day of spring break, we decided to head to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum as we didn't want to drive back into the city. It was amazing!

Grandma met us for the morning since this museum is out her direction. They had an SR-71 Blackbird...

We saw a Concorde...

And we saw the Enola Gay...

We found an F-4 - the type of plane my Opa (World's Greatest Fighter Pilot) flew near the end of his time in the Vietnam War.

We got to go up into their control tower to watch planes take off and land at Dulles.

Ben got to see Dusty Crophopper from Disney's Planes.

And Jane got to see Plane Jane:

Then we headed into their space section, which was amazing! They had the Discovery right in the center of the hangar. They also had several of the Apollo and Gemini pods, space suits and food, and other satellite and communication equipment.

This one was a very cool museum!
