jobs
I applied to a bunch of jobs last night and this morning and I already have three interviews! I still need to schedule them though which is the hard part (since I have appointments almost every day). Thankfully, one is just a phone interview and writing assignment. I may have a job in a couple weeks!

licensed
we went to the courthouse in Fairfax this morning to get our marriage license.
It was pretty easy and fast for us, although I wasn't allowed to bring my camera or my phone through security. There was a couple behind us that was trying to get a license as well, and unfortunately for them the process wasn't as smooth. The girl was born in Palestine, but since Palestine isn't technically a country, according to the court, she was born in Israel. She was not very happy. So anyway, we're licensed and ready to go!

Memorial Day water balloon fight
Ashleigh and Jessie bought 100 water balloons with their friend Courtney. They each took thirty and gave Chris 10. It took about an hour to fill up all of the balloons and only about 10 minutes for them to disappear! Then it was clean up time.

Memorial Day rehearsal concert

Went the the rehearsal for the Memorial Day concert in D.C. last night after day one of apartment shopping. There was nice weather, but lots of stand ins. Rodney Atkins didn't come and there was a 60-something year old man playing his song for him. It was hilarious. The real concert tonight should be pretty nice!
A gift a day
So for the past three days we have been receiving wedding gifts! Already! The funny thing is, we haven't even sent out invitations yet. We're developing quite a pile.

art in the mailbox
So we were busy at work stamping and stuffing invitations so we could send them out this weekend, when Chris tells me a story from his childhood. Once when he was younger, he got really angry at his brother. So he went into his brother's room and stole a bunch of his artwork. Then he went outside, stuffed it all in the mailbox, and put up the red flag. He wanted to send it all somewhere out of retaliation. Unfortunately when then mailman came, he and his brother and mom were all outside in the driveway and the mailman and his mom laughed about it. His mom asked him if he did it and he said yeah in a joking manner so that he wouldn't get in trouble. haha. So we recreated this situation during invitations break!

officially graduated
been spending a lot of time in NY recently.
More about us...
Chris and I were married in July 2008 and life has been everything but predictable since then.
We met while in college - I spent most of my time being adventurous with my roommates, growing in my faith, and cheering Chris on at his basketball games; Chris spent his time with basketball, being president of FCA, and of course, more basketball. We decided to get married right after we graduated. We certainly ran into a fair amount of people who thought we were crazy. I mean, Chris was 22 and I was only 21, but we're young, we knew what we wanted, and we figured we could handle it.
And handle it is what we did! We both walked into fairly well-paying jobs, found an apartment in Arlington giving Chris access to the metro and me a reverse commute, as well as a huge and unexpected bonus of being in walking distance to some of my roommates from college. We fell into a routine that had a lot of positives, but Chris had a passion he just couldn't shake.
He got a call about an opening coaching college basketball and we both knew immediately he was going to have to take it. This time, a significantly bigger number of people thought we were crazy. I mean, we were deciding to cut our income in more than half, move to the middle of nowhere (further away from family and friends), and live a completely different kind of life; but we're young, we knew what we wanted, and we figured we could handle it. We decided to go for it, praying I would find a job to help support us, which I finally did, about four days before we moved!
So here we are, married for over a year, a big (and emotional!) move under our belts, two major career changes down, living in a very, very different type of town than we started out in.
Originally, I started this blog as a means to keep in close touch with friends after graduation and going our separate ways. After that turned out to be wildly successful, our families and others started reading. Now I have met a few wonderful people through this, and at the same time, am able to provide a window into our lives for family and friends . Thanks for reading. We love to hear from you!
