Our own personal walkway

Getting off the metro near our place you have three options: go towards Wilson, towards Clarendon, or towards us! We live in Colonial Village and this walkway takes you under the main roads and out into a parking lot that connects to our street. It's really convenient!

Living in DC

Our apartment still isn't completely set up yet (we did get internet this morning!), but I promise to put pictures up eventually. We love our place though :) It is the perfect size and perfect location! We decided to go in to DC tonight just because we could!Washington MonumentLincoln MemorialWorld War II MemorialWhere I worked last summer...Where I'm going for my birthday in a couple weeks!

Back!

Well we're back from Jamaica after a long day at multiple airports yesterday. We flew into Reagan around 11.30pm last night and got to walk home from the metro! It is one of my first experiences about how convenient it is to live near DC, and even though it was late, I was tired, and I had to carry a suitcase, it was still exciting!
We don't have internet set up yet at the apartment due to something about our outside cables being exposed and some sort of animal chewing them up.. but hopefully we'll have it by the end of the week.

THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING TO THE WEDDING!! It was so much fun and we really appreciated all your love and company :)

4 days to go...!

I can't believe the wedding is only 4 days away. It seems like it's so much further! It's always seemed so far away and now it's here! So today is crunch day, I have so much to do! Nothing too big or time consuming.. just running errands to the store and packing/cleaning, putting stuff together for the next few days. AH!

Fireworks

The rain stopped long enough for the fireworks to continue! Eric, Lauren, Alex, Chris, and I walked down to Ida Lee to see them.
Eric also had some bottle rockets that we got to shoot off at the house before we left, and those little snap things that you throw on the sidewalk and they BANG! and FLASH! I think you know what I'm talking about.. The fireworks were good as always. They had red stars and hearts with circles around them, and smiley faces. I'm always impressed by fireworks that come out in shapes!

4th of July!!

I can't remember the last time we had a rainy 4th of July. Last year we had a great day outside, sun shining, slip and sliding. The year before we were swimming at Alex's pool. This year:

But that doesn't mean we didn't have fun! It's been a bit cloudy all day, but before the rain came in, we busted out the tarp for the 2nd annual 4th of July Slip n' Slide. It was lots of fun, we were all covered in bubbles and grass, but well worth it!

My mom even made her 4th of July cake and cut out watermelon in the shape of stars!

July 3

My dad came out to Arlington with us this morning to help move the last bit of furniture we had in. Then Chris and I ended up staying until almost 7 unpacking and cleaning. By the end of the day we had 8 garbage bags full of trash and a huge pile of broken down cardboard boxes. We've still have a long ways to go, but I feel good about what we got done today. I'm not sure that I have time to get back there before the wedding except just to visit, so I'm glad we spent the day there.

We took a break around 11am to go drop off the rental truck and ended up going by the courthouse on our way back. We both switched over the titles to our car (unfortunately when you change the title you have to get new plates and I FINALLY just memorized my old ones!), changed our addresses, changed our voter registration address, and got our Arlington county stickers and decals. It was a very productive trip to the courthouse. The people were so helpful and the entire process took only 45 minutes. Chris ended up walking to our new place from there, we live so close!

July 2

Budget Truck had a truck for us on Wednesday! It was a relief after we called the day before to confirm our reservation and they told us we would need to call at 8am to make sure they actually had something for us. After the fiasco of not getting the truck in May, and already having driven down to Williamsburg, I was not okay with the fact that we only might get the truck. (For those that hadn't heard, we reserved a truck the week after graduation, but the place overbooked and we never got it!) But everything went off without a hitch! Hawley came over in the morning to help load up all the furniture, and then we hit the road to the apartment, then to Ashburn to drop off Christina's stuff, and finally back home for showers. It was a long day!

July 1

We had our walk through at the condo in Arlington to pick up our keys in the morning. The landlord's agent was very disorganized and didn't even have enough keys for us.. he is making us get copies made and mail them to him along with the invoice! Pictures of the place will come once we're moved in; right now it's a bit of a mess. We also had our final meeting at the Waterford. Everything for the wedding seems to be falling into place and we're getting very excited! They assigned us a bridal suite, and we took the liberty of checking it out early :)

After the morning of meetings, Chris and I drove to Williamsburg for the night. I got to spend the evening hanging out with Maggie and Liz at the Leafe and the Midlands. It was a great night!
