No, I don't normally sit around in the dark. I sat down today when the sun was shining and there was 100% visibility in the room. I set out to return some emails I had been meaning to respond to that were piling up slowly but surely, and then didn't get up until I noticed how dark it had gotten! The room getting dark was so gradual that I didn't even realize it had happened. I bet I'm not the only one either...do you ever sit down and get so engrossed in something that you fail to notice the sun setting? Or do you notice it and are too lazy to get up and turn on a light? :)

Amish Friendship bread
Who wants some??
I have been told that by day 10, this will have multiplied by four. Now I've already had one taker, and if I keep one for Chris and myself to make again, that means I need two more takers. The directions are really simple, the bread is really delicious, and you will definitely like it. Here's the catch though. Day 10 will be February 5th and in order to give it to you, I will have to see you on or shortly after that date. So if you want some (and I hope two of you do!), then we'll have to arrange a meeting/pass-off around then. Let me know...

Blue screen of death
This is the third time in 2 days that my computer has randomly shut off and popped back up with the blue screen of death. Today it happened in the middle of a quiz for one of my classes, which I cannot repeat and therefore got a 0. So needless to say, I was not pleased. What did I do? Called Eric, of COURSE!For information on Eric's wonderful feats that have saved us all in the past see:
1. Eric's saving index card.
2. The fixing of Lauren's camera.
3. Fixing my bracelet.
4. The fixing of my computer.
Not to mention the years before we started blogging...
...when Eric fixed an iPod I found discarded in the trash (it was clean!), which I still use today.
...when I was 9 or 10, Eric fixed my gigapet that I accidently dropped in a cup of milk.
...and MANY MANY MANY other un-blogged events.
Anyway, he gave me some advice about uninstalling some recently installed programs (a.k.a. Firefox, which I downloaded because I don't like blogging in Internet Explorer), and so far so good. We'll see if it works long term; I'm definitely optimistic!
Working from home
...is awesome. I don't get to do it that often, but I really appreciate it when I do! It's 2 p.m. and I'm still wearing sweatpants, I didn't shower today, and I'm very relaxed while also staying very productive! And the best part is, Chris is working from home today, too.
We believe his super long hours and all weekend at the office days are over for the time being (if any of you were wondering), which is also good news. Be safe out there if you go out, and if you're wondering in more detail what the roads and sidewalks are like out here, check out our neighbor Ashley's description. I thought it was pretty funny :)

Weeknights
I just finished watching 24 and now I'm bored! Chris is still at work and I don't want to be up too late since I have to work in the morning, but it's still a bit too early for bed! Normally we make dinner, watch some TV and play a game like Mariokart or cards. So really I have nothing to post about except to ask:
What do you do on weeknights??

Naviprom
Last night was Chris's company's winter outing. I'm not sure how the name came about, but the night was called "Naviprom" (for Navigant - the company Chris works for, and prom). It was really fun! The outing was at the Reagan building downtown, which I had never been to, and even though I didn't know many people there I had a lot in common with some of them since many of them went to William & Mary.Thursday, January 22, 2009
Lost mysteries...
I spent three hours last night watching the Lost season 5 premiere and recap, and I know many of you out there did, as well! This morning in my news feed I came across an article of the top 5 Lost mysteries that have yet to be solved. It entertained me for awhile while I tried to come up with my own theories, so I figured I'd pass it along :) You know, just in case you have some free time today... Lost mysteries.

Cold.
It's certainly freezing out. When I opened my google reader this morning, almost everyone's posts were about how cold it is! Well, I'm joining in. On my way to work this morning (7:30 a.m.) I took this picture of the temperature:
If you can't read it, it says "outside: 11 degrees F". 11!!!!!!!! That. is. cold.

School
Well, some of you know I have decided to go back to school in the afternoon/evenings to take a few classes this semester. For those of you who didn't know yet, that's what I'm doing! I know, I know, I've only been out of school for 8 months, but I missed it! Anyway, this post is about my experience in my first class this week.

It felt like high school! I walked into a classroom, attendance was taken, and we all introduced ourselves to the teacher. There was no food or drink allowed in the room, and we went over classroom procedures like participation and turning in work on time. Most of the people in there had their cell phones in their laps and were texting, and I'm pretty sure there were more copies of Twilight in the room than the text book. The material definitely moves at the pace of a college class though. I'm excited to be studying again. I know that sounds weird, but I enjoy the mental stimulation!

We took down the Christmas tree :(
Chris had to work allll weekend this week so I spent some time cleaning. I took down all our Christmas decorations. All the ornaments and lights came off the tree, the wreath off the door, and all the cards off the wall. I was definitely sad to see it all go. Now that all the decorations are gone it feels like Christmas is completely over and now I'm just looking forward to warm weather!
The tree didn't exactly fit through the door way. And it was definitely dead. The result?
Pine needles EVERYWHERE! There was a trail all the way from the corner where the tree stood, out the door and down the hallway. And, two days later, the tree is still sitting outside because the garbagemen have not picked it up.

6 months already?
Can you believe it? 6 months ago we were all hanging out at a big party. It was a blast. We had tons of fun, and we hope you did, too!
We miss you all!

Computer Update
Hey guys,
Katie's computer suffered some kind of ailment yesterday afternoon, so it's out of commission right now. Ergo, no blogs. I'm on my work computer just to give you the update. Hopefully Eric can figure something out otherwise we're gonna have to look for a new one. Keep your fingers crossed!

Sunglasses
I had to drive into DC this morning for work and it was really sunny out. I reached in my purse to pull out my sunglasses and this is what I found :(
I'm so bummed! I can't believe they're broken! I mean, I can believe it because I bought them at Target for $7ish, but that doesn't make me less upset! I love my sunglasses and I hate having to buy new ones...

How can you not love the burg?
We went down to Williamsburg for the Tribe v. Harvard basketball game on New Year's Eve (W&M won, of course). Afterward we walked down in CW to see the sights before heading back up. Oxen, horse and carriages, the Governor's Palace...this place is like being in a different century. I'm not really into the colonial stuff, but I love being in Williamsburg! After four years it really is my home away from home.

States
We just got back from playing a rousing game of "states". There's an elementary school up the street from our house, so we went over with a basketball and played horse, but instead of shooting from wherever you want, you shoot from different states. I lost, obviously, but I made my shots from Washington and Montana, which is pretty impressive I think! Then Ashley and Alex came by with their dog and we played some 3 on 1.

I thought these pictures were pretty funny because in the first one it looks like Chris just dropped the ball, and in the second it looks like he's levitating it under his hand. But really he was just dribbling.

This year in pictures
Here's a glimpse into our 2008...
January: Lots of basketball games!
February: Campus golf. My roommates and I dressed up as the ninja turtles. Also a lot more basketball games.
March: Chris's senior night. All his family came down from Boston and my mom and aunt came down for the game. The Tribe made it to the CAA Championship game in Richmond.
April: Blow out. We wound down our final semester of classes and had a great time in the warm weather.

May: Graduation! Goodbye W&M :(
June: Bridal showers, tons of wedding planning, I got my wisdom teeth pulled.
July: We got married! Went to Jamaica!
August: A lot more weddings, this one at the National Cathedral in DC. We got adjusted to living in our new apartment and we both started our jobs.
September: Day trip to NYC. Chris's birthday and lots of winery visits while we tried to make the most of the last month of warm-ish weather.
October: Camping trip in Prince William Forest. It was freezing! We had a great time though.

November: Thanksgiving at both of our houses. I went to my first Redskins game; tickets courtesy of Robert.

December: Christmas! The end of the year. These outfits were for a Christmas party we went to.
Happy New Year!!

The place was really pretty and dinner was great. They also had a photo booth, which we definitely took advantage of:
