As you all know we have been having some heating issues. Well recently our landlord game and installed some insulation on the basement ceiling to try to help us keep some of our heat in. This was really nice. BUT the next day, we noticed that the water wasn't coming in strong enough to get the shower to turn on. If you flushed a toilet, no water would come out of the sink to let you wash your hands. If we turned on the washing machine, there was no chance we would get water in the kitchen sink to wash dishes.
We called him back and after two trips from the plumber and another one from our landlord, they have informed us they think our main water line is broken.
We have noticed that the front yard is pretty wet, but we just figured that because of the rain and the warm weather on Monday and Tuesday last week, that the ground was just thawing out. I guess that's not the case, and the main water line is pumping water into the front yard or something (I'm not really sure I fully understand what's going on, so this description may be incorrect).
(Water/mud in our front yard)
(The glassy effect is about an inch of standing water on the front yard.)
(This picture doesn't do it justice, but there is more than a foot of water in here just resting against a basement window.)
Anyway, our landlord is on the case and promises to take care of it, but we could use your prayers that nothing else goes wrong! We have been having problem after problem and while our landlord has been wonderful and prompt, it's not always fun to live with.

What next??? You guys have seen it all -- So sorry you are having so many issues!
I'm so sorry! I know how it is having "old house syndrome"- we've been through weeks without laundry, flooding basements, numerous holes in ceilings that just pour water in when it rains, and more. But I can't imagine not being able to wash my hands after I use the bathroom or not be able to do dishes! (We do have nine people here..) But you and I both are blessed to have a landlord who will get on the case quickly and do what he can to get the problem fixed. I'll pray for you; hang in there! Love you!
oh no!! I'm so sorry you guys! Its awesome that you have a nice landlord though. Can you use those sweet new showers in those fancy locker rooms for a while?? You will be in my prayers!
Hope the fix comes quickly and goes smoothly.
