When life gives you lemons

One of the desserts I made last week for the wedding shower involved lemons.  Lots of lemons.  And I absolutely love lemon.  I would probably never eat slices of lemon by themselves, but I like it in my water, I like it in my desserts, and I love it in gelato or ice cream form.  In fact, while I lived in Germany a couple years ago my friends and I would often get ice cream for our long walk back from town after dinner regardless of the weather.  And I would almost always get their lemon flavor.

However, Chris is not a huge fan of lemon.  So I don't buy lemon flavored gelato and I never make lemon flavored desserts.  The problem is that I know I will be the only one eating them and I know that he will be a little bummed while I'm eating my delicious dessert and he can't find anything chocolate in the house.

But last week was different because I was baking to share with people, so I made a chocolate dessert, and a lemon one.  And then I had lemons left over!  Because I don't like to let things go to waste, I found a recipe online (here) that involved lemons - a version of chicken piccata.  And it was delicious!  And more importantly, Chris loved it despite its incredibly strong lemon flavoring!

If you really truly dislike lemons, then you probably won't like this dish at all, but I'm lucky that Chris is not a very picky eater and was willing to give it a shot.  In the battle of me and lemons against Chris, I think I just won one!  It makes life easier when we both like all the same foods :)
