July is already over!

We had a pretty relaxing weekend topped off by a thunderstorm on Sunday that woke me up several times throughout the morning and lasted half the day. By the evening it was sunny again and finally not over 100 degrees, so we went to the pool. The water in the pool has been so warm recently that it's hardly refreshing to get in it and yesterday was no exception. I thought the storm might make the water a little cooler, and it may have, but certainly not noticeable enough for me.

A co-worker of Chris grows vegetables in her garden and throughout the summer she's been passing off random peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, etc. This weekend he brought home a bunch of tomatoes so we made bruschetta. If I had any sort of green thumb at all this would entice me to plant a garden on our porch, but after we were gone last week at the beach, my basil plant is barely still alive. I'm pretty sure if I can't keep a basil plant alive I would have much less luck with any sort of vegetable.

Happy August!

love the new banner :) i always found that summer vacation severely hampered my gardens in past years... we went away before the heat this year which is why I finally have tomatoes! your bruschetta looks amazing!
