Mother's Day

Chris was working up in D.C. last Friday, and since my semester officially ended the day before, I went up with him so we could celebrate Mother's Day with our moms. My mom and I met up with Lauren after she got off work Friday afternoon (I finally got to see where she works!) and we took my mom out for a ladies dinner.

The next morning, we made breakfast and then headed out to Aldie for their spring festival. There was food, antiques, people selling their wares, and civil war reenactors, as well as tours of the Aldie Mill. Lauren had gone on the mill tour before and said it was worth it (when it's free, I think almost anything is "worth it") and it was actually a really great tour. We learned that the phrases "grind to a halt" and "keep your nose to the grindstone" originated with the miller profession.

After the festival, Chris and I headed out to Lorton to celebrate Mother's Day with his family. On Saturday we took a walk around Burke Lake and Chris and I were able to get our car fixed (by his brother's roommate AND the car passed state inspection today. Yay!). Sunday after church, all the kids got together to make dinner and surprisingly, it went off without a hitch. Everything was delicious and it was a great way to celebrate before having to head back home.

It was so nice to be able to have a long weekend at home. Even though this summer is going to be very busy for Chris and me with school and work, I am looking forward to hopefully having more weekends like this!
