This was also the first year that I've ever used a paper ballot. Which, if you think about it, is pretty surprising since we lived in small town Virginia and voted in local elections the past few years. Even rural VA had electronic voting, so I was at a loss on what to do. With my coffee (didn't forget it this time, like I did two years ago!), my voter registration card, my gloves, plus my ballot and it's folder in my hands, I definitely was not prepared to use a marker and have to feed a paper ballot through a counting machine.

Election day!
Chris and I got up early this morning to vote before he had to go to work and I had to head to Richmond. We were able to walk to our polling location making things a little more convenient and our wait to vote was not terrible - probably only 20-25 minutes. This morning was the first morning it really felt like winter. The field we had to cross was covered in frost that looked like snow until you got up close to it. Sadly, there are still 6 weeks until the official start of winter. It's too early to be this cold!

Happy election day! Make sure you exercise your right to vote!

Way to get out and vote early!
I used the paper ballot too. The wait for the the touch screen was over 5 minutes and no wait to mark and feed the ballot box. Easy this afternoon!
is that good ole Walsingham Academy? I didn't realize places even still had paper ballots!
I agree...way too early to be this cold! We had the option of paper or electronic...I chose electronic. :)
No options for us...and it was Rawls Byrd :)
I chose paper. That wait was 30 min vs. 1-1.5 hours electronic. I also agree - it is COLD!!
We have always had paper, ink or punch (no more punch since the chad debacle).
Never saw electronic in person (and not so far from silicon valley, you'd think. ..)
anyway, no wait here!
Polls close early on east coast, we're open to 8pm, long after east coast goes to bed!
