Shattered

Well my big news this week is that yesterday I shattered the screen to my iPhone. I bent over to pick up Eleanor while we were outside, it fell out of my pocket, and the rest is history. Unfortunately, I'm not due for an upgrade for another 8 months, Chris isn't due for an upgrade either, and it's too expensive for us to fix at the moment. Boo.

Needless to say, I will certainly be investing in a LifeProof or OtterBox with my next phone. I had gotten this recommendation from other moms and figured I didn't really need to worry because I'm careful and don't let Eleanor play with my phone, but all it takes is one falling toddler for you to swoop in to avoid injury to the thing that can't be fixed (a.k.a. your kid), and then your phone could end up looking like this:

The saddest part about all of this for me is that I don't actually even use the computer anymore apart from uploading pictures and blogging. I check everything on my phone and often go 3-4 days without touching the computer depending on my work schedule, so it really impacts my day to day significantly.

Thankfully though, it's just a phone. That's not to say I'm not bummed about it, but at least it was a thing, not a person. One day I'll have another that I'll hopefully not break (and as a side note, why hasn't Apple invented a shatter-proof screen with all the technology advances they've made? Ridiculous.), but in the meantime, I can be comforted by the fact that "cracked phones are totally a hipster thing." So now I'm kind of like a hipster. (Totally kidding, I am not comforted by this at all, but that is what Chris told me when he saw it after getting home from work.)

Oh my gosh; I'm so sorry. Cracking up at Chris' attempt to make you feel better, but I would be totally bummed if this happened to me. It does still work, though, right?

So sorry Katie. That is not cool. 8 months is a long time! I do like Chris' comment though. You just have to smile.

oh so sad for you! We have tons of old phones if you need one... they are "dumb" though!
