Happy Mother's Day, particularly to my mom, Chris' mom, and my grandma! We started the weekend off by going strawberry picking at College Run Farms. We took the ferry over to Surry.
Eleanor did quite well picking this year, but kept wanting to hop into the other "garden" (basically crossing over to a different row) and was squishing strawberries underfoot each time.
It was great weather...somewhat cool and cloudy, but no rain. Jane ended up falling asleep in the carrier for a bit of the time.
We definitely stopped to get ice cream, and Eleanor, who eats faster than me, kept eating all of hers and then wanting to "trade." When I said no, she kept asking hers to be "filled up" by ice cream from my bowl. Jane also enjoyed her first taste of ice cream and looooves strawberries.
We've got a couple special events coming up these next few weekends so this was our last weekend home for the month when we didn't have any plans and could just relax as a family. We ended up going out to dinner on Saturday night to the Virginia Beer Company so we could eat outside in a relaxing environment where Eleanor could run around (after Chris installed a new ceiling fan with a light outside on the screened in porch).
On Sunday we had a barbecue and invited whoever was in town with no plans over to grill. The kids played and we sat around eating. It was joyful chaos (as are pretty much any get togethers with lots of small children). There were lots of new babies there this year, as well as babies we've been praying for for years, so very joyful.
And a final picture of me with the ladies who make me a mama.
Happy Mother's Day!

Wow, adorable pictures! Eleanor reminds me of Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm in these strawberry photos! And what a mother's day crew! You are blessed to all have so many friends there! Glad you had a happy mother's day!!
Happy mother's day!!! Stawberry picking looks so fun - I've still never done it before! You've always been such a great example for me, especially now in motherhood. So much patience, understanding, and grace :) I hope you got some time to relax a little and celebrate yourself!
