Chris went out of town to Boston for work the other week so the girls and I were home together for a few days alone. We spent as much time outside as we could. Outside makes us all a little saner. I was planning to put the girls to bed early each night so I could have some time to myself but ended up not getting them to bed until almost nine because we were having fun! We stayed out in the backyard late each night swinging and playing.
We also got out to Colonial Williamsburg to see the baby lambs. We stayed late there to throw a tennis ball around and make up dances to the fife and drum music.
We even slowed down to walk to church and stayed for lunch afterward. Jane doesn't like being trapped into the stroller, if you can't tell :)
As a general rule, I had planned to stick to a schedule and make sure the girls had good naps and went to bed on time and ate dinner and lunch on time, but in practice, we threw everything out the window and just slowed down. We had no agenda while Chris was gone, I wasn't working at all, and we ended up having a great time. By the time Chris got back the house was a mess and nothing productive had gotten done, but we enjoyed our time together. We sure were glad when Chris got home again :)
