San Diego - Day 4 - SeaWorld

My family had gotten us tickets to SeaWorld for our birthdays this year so on Thursday we decided to spend the day at the park. Lauren started us out with an awesome breakfast!

Then we were on our way...we planned our entire day around the shows we wanted to see. I figured that was the best way to make sure we saw what we wanted.

Near the front of the park were several touch pools where you could touch horseshoe crabs, sharks, and let little minnow fish nibble on your hands. The girls were not super thrilled with this, but Eleanor gave it her best shot.

From there we headed to Sesame land, where they had one or two of the same rides we have at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg (they're both owned by Busch), except named for sea creatures instead. Eleanor and Lauren hit up a few rides.

Jane, who did not seem to be interested in any rides, found this swing and wanted to go on it, so of course we obliged her.

Chris even found a ride that he was actually too tall to go on! Something I've never seen before...

Then Eleanor found what was essentially a giant trampoline and headed over to it. Jane was devastated that she wasn't tall enough to go on it until we turned around and saw a slightly flatter trampoline just for her size! Both the girls had an absolute blast on these trampoline type things, so much so that we did them again later in the day.

From there we went to the dolphin show - and it was great! I took a few videos at the shows, so enjoy.

We also went to another show that I thought would be entertaining for the girls, a spin off of SNL call SLL or Sea Lions Live!

We were all pretty hot, tired, and hungry at this point so we went on one last ride - a sky train across Mission Bay - before heading back to Lauren's for lunch and naps.

After naps we headed back to the park for the afternoon and evening. We went through and saw some turtles...

...some sharks...

...and some penguins.

Lauren and I rode a rapids ride and then Chris and Lauren went on the Manta roller coaster.

While they were doing that, we to the touch pool to pet the manta rays, and then looked at some sea lions up close in another little pool.

Chris and Lauren headed to another roller coaster after that, which I was initially going to go on with them, but the line seemed too long so I left and went with my mom and the girls to the Orca show, which I really wanted to see! SeaWorld has really changed the orca show a lot (from what I hear, because I never saw the original) to be more documentary-style and to include less "tricks" and more of orcas' natural behaviors. It was very impressive.

Besides the dolphin and orca shows, the highlight of the day for me was seeing the beluga whales and the walrus in the arctic exhibit. They were both so fascinating and I had no idea how HUGE a walrus is!

And the girls pretended to be polar bears in a little cave (sadly SeaWorld's polar bear died).

From there we went to one more show, basically a neon light show that I was not super impressed with but it did entertain the girls.

Our last ride of the night was a tower ride so we could see San Diego at night.

Overall SeaWorld was a great and unique experience. The girls had a blast and so did we. Plus it's about a mile from my sister's apartment, so we basically had to see what they see every day!
