August wrap-up

August was a busy month for us with a trip to California and one to the beach, which I will post pictures from as soon as I get a chance. After a super hot July, we finally found some awesome high-70s/low-80s weather this month and were able to get out quite a bit more! The few weeks we were home was a combination of catching up at work and getting ready for the next trip...now we are preparing for fall!

We celebrated my birthday here at home once we got back from California. The girls helped Chris bake and decorate my cake, and while his back was turned, Jane grabbed an egg to crack it like Eleanor was doing. Needless to say, it didn't go well :)

We also celebrated another baby friend's first birthday with a Mexican theme.

The last week this month we were down to only one car for the week, so Chris and I had to take turns dropping each other off at work. Chris took the girls on a special Chick-fil-A date after dropping me off at work one morning at 6:30.

We've spent time walking around Colonial Williamsburg.

Eleanor has been playing field hockey in the house using ace wraps as shin guards and a regular hockey stick as a field hockey stick. :)

We didn't really let Eleanor use googles at the pool this summer because I didn't want her to be afraid of opening her eyes in the water, but she certainly played with them at home!

We spent time at our local library for their summer reading program.

We said one of our hardest goodbyes yet to some very dear friends of ours. One of Eleanor's and my good friends moved away to another state and we were pretty devastated to see them go.

Shug came down to visit us at the end of the month! He even brought his sweet puppy Henry to visit and the girls had a blast, especially playing with Henry with a small barrier between them, hah!

August was maybe my favorite month this summer, but we are eagerly looking forward to fall. It is my favorite season and we have lots of firsts coming up for Eleanor - both soccer and pre-school. We are excited that she is excited and happy to be staying put until these babies arrive!
