Wreaths of Williamsburg

One of my favorite things to do over the holidays is to walk around Colonial Williamsburg and see their wreaths. We didn't get to do it Christmas Eve this year, but we ended up walking down there one of the days after family left and before school began. It was a great day weather-wise. The kids weren't thrilled, but they were good sports.

The creativity of the wreaths is impressive every year.

This is the kids' favorite house - the "apple house." If you zoom in you can see that they alternate red and green apples in the brick insets throughout the facade of the house. 

My favorite wreath wasn't a wreath at all. One establishment had garland around the doorway, in wreath form on the door, and underneath the windows. They had a basket of paper and pencils where you could write thoughts, wishes, or prayers and tie them on - so many had participated it was hard to find room to tie ours on!

There were so many to look at, and surprisingly well maintained a month later after we got down to seeing them.
