Wintergreen

Near the end of June we did a quick two night getaway to Wintergreen. There were some big storms on our way up there so thankfully we had power, but unfortunately no WiFi or cell service.

We decided to go straight to their indoor pool to burn off some energy from the car. They had hot tubs up and running outside so despite the rain, we headed out to enjoy them and it was actually quite nice! Once we were outside, one thing led to another and the girls and Gaby ended up cannon-balling into the outdoor pool.

The mornings were relaxing albeit foggy.

The second day we had a bit of a reprieve from the rain despite everything being very foggy and wet. We hiked the Highlands Leisure trail and the Dobie Trail enjoying (but not seeing anything at) the overlooks.

Then we decided to head down the mountain to the Blue Ridge Trail Tunnel, which opened to the public in 2020 I think after being used as a rail line until 1944.

Inside the tunnel was very dark. You had to have flashlights or headlamps.

It was a very fun hike, and then we went to Devil's Backbone before heading back up the mountain where we had some chips and guac on the porch and played some cards.

The last morning we were there we woke up to some lovely views!

Coffee on the porch in the morning - not much is better than that!

Overall it was a great trip and we had a wonderful time!
