May wrap-up

May has been a great month! We've had a couple warm days but the weather has been either extremely mild or rainy until now, so despite school ending and summer swim beginning, it feels so strange that summer is here! We took a family vacation (more on this soon) and wrapped up a lot of activities for the school year (Lego-Robotics, chorus, Bible studies, the CASA job I was filling in for the last three months, and lacrosse). We are ready for the less involved pace of summer.

Apparently because of a solar storm, there was a chance we would be able to see the northern lights down here in Williamsburg, so one night I got up to check...sadly I didn't see anything, but the sky was still beautiful!

Matoaka had a spirit night at Bruster's where the kids' teachers were the "celebrity scoopers" so we went after lacrosse practice. Jane got the banana split and Ben, who didn't want bananas, was aghast at its size.

My peonies and roses are blooming!

Eleanor got a glow party at school.

The cicadas are out in full force.

The kids drew cards to Chris while we were talking about Papa Laser.

Rainy morning at church.

We got to see Bonnie at her dance performance!

Rosie held a hamster at a birthday party.

Chris and I got a date night in at Busch Gardens for the Food and Wine festival.

We went to a volunteer picnic at church and the kids had a great time.

Last lacrosse practice of the season: parents vs. kids!

We had a fun block party at church with Sno-to-Go and inflatables. The kids had a blast.

The last couple days of school are upon us and the kids have been playing four square at the bus stop every morning.

On to pool season!

Haha - Ben's look at Jane's ice cream! Your peonies are beautiful! Yeah for the summer months ahead!
