Our 4th of July holiday started early on the night of the 3rd. We had a neighborhood picnic down at the marina. The kids had a great time playing down in the water with a whole bunch of friends while the sun set.
The next morning we started bright and early with a group workout. This is third year I have participated, the second year our family has gone, and the first year Chris joined in (last year he had a triathlon coming up).
From there we rushed back to our neighborhood for the annual bike parade! Sometimes these (along with the neighborhood picnics) occur on the weekends prior to the 4th of July, but since the holiday fell in the middle of the week this year, it just happened in the middle of the week.
We got to play with cousins, too!
Everyone went home to rest for a bit and then we ended up having some friends over for dinner before fireworks. During dinner, we fit in a quick game of lawn croquet before the skies opened up and it thunder stormed.
We were debating about going to fireworks or not and ended up deciding to give it a shot. We wanted to meet Jessie and Henry and it ended up being a beautiful night after the storms passed through!
The fireworks were great!
