June wrap-up

Oh my goodness, June...where has it gone? It started right as we were coming home from our family vacation, summer swim practice started, we had family in town for most of a week, and then school ended a couple days before meets began. In the midst of that, Eleanor has been transitioning to a bunch of middle school activities and a more middle school schedule and level of independence which honestly has been a very dramatic change that I wasn't necessarily expecting, though has been very exciting for her! It's been a very full and fun month.

Pool season is in full, full swing.

By coincidence, Auntie Mollie and I dressed similar one Sunday!

Then we ran into Auntie Mollie at swim practice one day!

Rosie is rocking the no front teeth look!

Ben misses his teacher!

We went to Busch Gardens to celebrate the end of the school year...Jane rode Alpengeist for the first time, twice! Then she rode Apollo's Chariot (she has ridden it before but is always nervous) several times! I took this picture of these two getting along because more often than not they are arguing these days. Toward the end of the month Jane rode Griffon!

And then we ran into Kim and Penn Holderness - they were filming at Busch! He was very nice! If you want to see the Holderness Family video, google "Theme Park Dad."

Ben and Rosie rode Darkoaster for the first time! Ben was very brave and rode alone because Rosie really wanted to ride with me.

On the last day of school, Eleanor finished 5th grade and went to Student Ministries (for 6-12th graders) that night. It was a quick transition from elementary to middle school!

Jane's end of year backpack...she had to clip her lunchbox on the outside because it was too full!

Rosie and Jane made a motorbike with the magna tiles.

A bird has created a nest between the screen and glass of one of our windows in the bonus room (there was a small rip in the screen). There are 5 eggs in it!

We had a fun night down at the marina with neighbors. There was a strawberry moon that night! The older kids scared the youngers though when they all rushed out of the water saying "they told us a blood moon will drain the sea so we can't go in the water!" That one lasted for days.

We took a trip to Water Country with friends.

I took the littles and their friends to Busch Gardens one afternoon while Eleanor was busy doing middle school things.

We ran into friends at the library and these two made shark hats with 18 eyes each. Our swim team was swimming the sharks that night so they thought it was hilarious.

The kids had to wash the car to get all the chalk paint off the windows from our away meets.

Rosie's feet are as torn up this year as they were last year.

We went to Water Country with cousins...including some ringing around Rosie!

The girls' friends were at "Nana Camp" at their grandparents house (who live next door to us - I know, small town!) and they got to play a lot that week.

Eleanor celebrated a friend's birthday down at the marina and was out until 10:30 one night. I was already in bed by the time she got home.

Lots of lego creations in the bonus room:

Eleanor got a trash picking up kit from the library, which the kids then used to clean the bonus room.

Eleanor and Jane have gotten interested in baking:

The kids have started watching Marvel movies...

The only complaint I have about this month is that it has been exceptionally hot, so it's been hard to be outside if water is not involved. Otherwise it's been just fantastic and we have very much enjoyed the transition to summer!
