What a soccer season!
This fall Ben played for the Black Batmans and really came out of his shell. Last year he was very fast on the field but never touched the ball. This year, he was all over the ball and potentially the highest scorer on his team, ending the season in the final came scoring a career high 3 goals and an assist. He loved playing and had such a great time.
Rosie also crushed it this year, playing up as the only 6 year old on a 7-9 year old team. She was on the Red Kit Kats with Jane, tried her hand at goalie several times and did a pretty decent job, got a bit more aggressive on both offense and defense, and has determined in her mind that she wants to "be really good at soccer, as good as Jane" and has turned it up a notch.

Jane also played on the Red Kit Kats and very reluctantly took her turn in goal. They also were required to rotate positions on their team so she played some defense as well as offense. She was dissatisfied with only one practice a week, so her coach, who also coaches Eleanor's co-ed team, told her she could play there, too! So Jane ended up playing for two teams this entire season, practicing twice a week and playing in 2-3 games on a Saturday. She crushed in in both levels and in the co-ed league, they never made her play defense and she got tons of playing time, so she ended up loving it. She scored lots of goals... I have no idea how many, but loved it and left wanting to play lots more soccer.
Jane makes an attempt on goal:
Kit Kats are dynamite, don't mess with dynamite, SHABOOM! (That was their team cheer.)
Eleanor played for DC United and she came from absolutely out of nowhere this season. With team sports she tends to either show up or not show up and we never know which it's going to be. Well this season she showed up! She scored goals (occasionally more than one in a game!) for the first time maybe in a couple years. In fact, one time at halftime, a parent on our team overheard the coach for their opponent planning their second half strategy around preventing "the girl in the green shorts" from getting the ball. She really worked so hard every week and did her best and we are so proud of her! She and Jane both played right offense pretty much the entire season subbing out for each other. They were a good pair!
(The only reason Jane doesn't have a medal is because she wasn't officially on the team, but she did play in every game!)
We spent lots of fun time on the fields with family and friends, and we got to see Bonnie play for a bit almost every Saturday!
The girls also spent a lot of time at home and on the sidelines playing with the soccer ball and improving their skill and footwork.
