Artwork

Welcome to another edition of the kids' artwork!

First up, Ben:

Some highlights are his square one art project - the dog in the upper left hand corner, his "fall" tree, and his penguin project right next to it, and his LOVE sign.

He also made a short book, a turkey, a winter hat, and a paper about George Washington.

Here he made a cool roller coaster drawing (upper right), a puzzle about outer space, and a paper about being responsible citizens (bottom right).

Rosie did a lot of the same artwork as Ben as much of this was done in school, but put her own variations/twists on it!

She also made a fall tree, a globe, and a penguin project, plus a picture of all the Christmas lights on our house, and a LOVE sign.

She made a city sky scraper scene, a winter hat, and her square one art project - a cat.

Her puzzle was of a rainbow, a beautiful cardinal, and she also wrote a little paper about George Washington and one on how to be a good citizen.

Jane is doing much less art in 4th grade, but still loves to create things.

Here she did an art piece with shading, her square one art project of flowers in a vase, and a watercolor.

She also worked on a fun cloud project and was starting a contest for the National Parks with an America drawing.

Eleanor's form of art was mostly in song and dance this season with all her Something Rotten practice.

She did create several water colors though and a drawing of an ice cream truck!

There you have it!

Reflections

All of the kids entered the Reflections contest again this year with the them "Accepting Imperfection." Here is their artwork - they all did watercolor.

Rosie got an honorable mention:

Jane got first place for 3-5th division and went to regionals:

Ben got 1st place for K-2 division and went to regionals. And Eleanor (I don't have a picture) got 1st place for 6-8th division and went to regionals - and won a $25 gift card to Target!

Eleanor ended up getting second place:

Jane got an honorable mention:

Ben also got an honorable mention:

So proud of this crew! Rosie was pretty devastated to not make it to regionals this year, but better luck next year!

For what it's worth though, Rosie won 1st place at the 1st grade yearbook cover contest!

Artwork

Welcome to the next edition of the kids' artwork...this time just featuring Rosie and Ben!

Some of my favorites include the dinosaur project Rosie did in art...she made a pterodactyl in the city.

She also drew herself as a scientist, said "I can play with a friend" in response to an "I Won't Eat My Classmates" book, and drew a rainbow.

She did lots of projects on nocturnal animals...

She drew a map and wrote and drew about her favorite stuffy Pixie.

She drew Johnny Appleseed and said she could be a helper by sweeping.

She also drew herself winning a swim race at champs and painted the Coliseum in Rome (while we were on our trip).

Ben naturally had some of the same projects and some different:

For his dinosaur project he drew a brontosaurus in the mountains.

He has a voter registration card, and wrote about his favorite stuffy "Wado" that Antelope made him when he was a baby that "snuggles him when he is sad."

He also drew Johnny Appleseed and had several projects about nocturnal animals. He also wrote a book about "What to Do When you See a Firefighter"

He also drew himself as a scientist, and drew lots of Marvel people.

He said he can be a helper by doing dishes, can be a good friend by pushing in somebody's chair and helping them if they fall, and drew himself slam dunking.

He also drew lots of Dogman pictures, wrote lots of books about Number Blocks, and drew a comic book about his friend being a super hero.

Ben very much enjoys drawing! We find lots of art around the house these days!
