Ladybug Infestation

They are everywhere! I don't get it! Is this a central VA thing, or does this happen other places, too?

Ladybugs climbing up the carpet:

Ladybugs crawling on the TV stand:

Ladybugs on the floor near the fire place:

Ladybugs hanging out on the papasan chair:

Ladybugs on the ceiling in the bathroom:

And these pictures are only from one day! They've been in the shower, on doors, flying around on the windows. Believe me, I am very very grateful that these are ladybugs and semi-cute, because otherwise I would be freaking out. I don't particularly mind bugs, but I don't like them in the house at all! I'd feel a little better though if it wasn't just us with this ladybug problem...

although i also live in central VA so this isnt too much of a consolation, we've also had that problem! not so much this year, but definitely in years past!

we have an ant infestation in our bathroom. and it's freezing in there! i'm not sure where they come from. but they are alwaaaays there. we also had some other weird bug infestation for a while...they kind of looked like fireflies, without the coolness of lighting up. that one seems to have died down in the past week or so...

We used to have lady bugs all the time on the windows in our living room in the old house.

how strange! i would have expected them in summer, nor winter. maybe they are looking for refuge from the cold?

Hey!
In Maine starting when I was around 13ish we started having an infestation ever winter, and I kind of stopped liking ladybugs after that. In fact the ladybugs you have are from Asia. Here is an article about it: http://www.ca.uky.edu/ENTOMOLOGY/entfacts/ef416.asp. Admittedly I only skimmed it. Summary. These are a newish type of ladybug to the usa and they hibernate, and therefore swarm into your house. Unless you completely seal every single crack you are going to have to get used to them. So no you are not alone in ladybug infestations, but they really aren't that bad.
Take care,
Suz

This happens at my parents house, too. No worries, they are good luck :)

At least it's not those nasty armor looking stink bugs!!! I found them everywhere when I was unpacking my stuff when I moved. I do remember going to Longwood with Jackie when she was there and there were ladybugs all over this one window in a building on campus. on the inside of the window. I'm sure you're not alone in this.
