Can you believe it's been over three weeks since our yard was torn up?
Here's the view every morning leaving the house:
It looks like a new home site. Maybe someone planted the grass but it just hasn't sprung up yet...
We have not made much progress in the yard area since the first big snow because the ground has been very wet. I haven't minded the aesthetics one bit.
It certainly isn't pretty though...
What I have minded is the mud.
And our hallway has minded the mud.
And our shoes have minded the mud.
Think with me for a second what the last few weeks have been like...
First, we had a weekend snowstorm with accumulations of just about a foot. This was a huge blessing because it covered up much of this mess :) That week the snow started melting, soaking the ground a bit until...the following weekend - more snow! Another blessing; instead of walking through mud, we got to dance and leap from patch of snow to patch of snow throughout the week up to the front door. And then more melting. And an inch or two more snow, and then more melting.
And now as it rains and the weather peaks around 50 degrees today, you might imagine that we've had A LOT of melting. And a lot of mud. I have been wearing boots in some form or another for three weeks straight, save once, which I realized was a mistake by the time I crossed the yard to my car.
Thankfully Chris has used a few dislodged stones to create a path in the least muddy section up to our front door.
We are currently hoping for no more precipitation! If the ground dries out, people can come fix our yard and I can stop wearing boots!

What a mess! I wish you many dry days ahead and grass in the spring!
yikes! i'm glad chris put down those stones! we are supposed to get snow tomorrow, but i'm doubtful...
yes that is too much mud! here's to sunny days and dry soft grass!
oh geez that is so muddy! But hopefully you'll have a nice green lawn coming in soon!
Are your new rain boots working well?!
The snow sure made it beautiful. That's a precarious walkway, but, a walkway nonetheless!
