What I want to be when I grow up...

When I was little I used to think about what I wanted to be when I grew up. I can't really remember my younger aspirations, but I'm sure they were something totally impractible. When I got to school age, I remember going through all sorts of things, like a teacher or an author.
I'm certain I never aspired to be in consulting or higher education administration. Those "dreams" didn't come in until at least college.

Sometimes I still find myself thinking about what I want to do in the future. I have a legitimate job that I enjoy for now, but when I look at my parents, neither of them are doing the same job they were doing 20 years ago. They're both on totally different career paths now so it makes me wonder...what will I be doing 20 years from now?

What about you? What did you want to be when you were little, and are you doing it now?

i'm boring - i'm doing pretty much the only thing i remember planning to do, and my forward-thinking goal is just to be doing it way better. hahaha.

Hi Katie, My first answer that I remember in the 4th grade was, "I want to be a nurse." I never veered from that thought and have never done anything besides nursing. The great thing about nursing is, I've had SO MANY Career paths and opportunities that I never would have had, had I not pursued my dream to be a nurse. I wish you luck in your decision making! Being a nurse is a great option if you choose to pursue that route in the future. All my love, Michele

I used to think being a teacher would be very cool, but the thing I wanted most in my entire life was to be a mother. I have been for 25+ years and, luckily, I always will be.

katie you had mad style even as a little tot!

when i was little i wanted to be a zookeeper. that's right- feeding the animals, cleaning out cages. then a professional singer (which i still havent ruled out considering how much natural talent i have) i never thought i'd be doing what i'm doing now, but i love it!!

I have one of those "Through the years" books that holds pics and info of my K-12 years. In kindergarten, I wanted to be a babysitter. By first grade, I wanted to be a teacher. There were a few years in there where I had something else or teacher...the something elses being pediatrician or vet (which makes me laugh now because I don't really like animals anymore) but teacher was always on there...so yes, I'm doing it!
