Cliff Walk

Chris and I have traveled a lot in our lives because we're both from military families, but there's still a lot of the U.S. that we haven't seen.  One of my goals is to eventually visit all 50 states.  Chris has been to Rhode Island before, but I never have - so one of the places to visit on our trip was the cliff walk in Newport, a place I had found recommended online.

The cliff walk is a three mile path along the beach and cliffs of RI, and it was absolutely gorgeous!  I believe it was originally developed by real estate people - there are something like 60 mansions or so that face the cliff walk along the path.  There are tons of trees and greenery to give them a lot of privacy, but I can't even fathom at what price one of those houses would sell.  I would love to go back someday.  This was definitely my favorite part of the trip up to this point.

After the cliff walk we hit the beach for a few and the ocean was freezing!
As you can see in the picture above, the waves have a slight pinkish hue to them.  There was some sort of red seaweed (or another kind of plant) mixed up in the water.  When I got out there were all these little red dots on me! Since we had gone straight down to the water, we didn't get the chance to visit much of the town, but it was really quaint looking and I bet I would have enjoyed it.  We'll have to use that as an excuse to come back sometime..!

I remember that red seaweed from when I was little - I think it contributed tomy fear of the ocean!
