I'd like to tell you I had grand plans for the day, but I have only a week and a half left before my program starts back up and I have been very busy trying to fit everything that I need to get done in before our lives get hectic again. I had some free time in the morning so I tried my hand at baking bread for the first time! I tried to find the most basic recipe I could for my first attempt and it came out pretty well. There are a few things I would do differently for next time, but I also want to try out a few different recipes to see which ones I like best.
Later, the girls youth from our church came over to have a pool day. It was a lot of fun hanging out with all of them and what better way to spend a day than hanging out at the pool?? The only thing that could have made my birthday better was...a dentist appointment! I know, it's ridiculous. I had to reschedule my appointment a few weeks ago because something came up, and when the dentist mentioned the second Tuesday in August, I thought, "no problem" and agreed right away. As soon as I hung up and went to put it in my calendar I realized I had just scheduled a dentist appointment on my birthday. I didn't want to call back and reschedule again, so I just went!
That night Chris baked me a cake, which is the right way to celebrate a birthday (unlike at the dentist's office) and I have been enjoying cake all week ever since :)
This weekend we are heading to my family's house to celebrate with them - it is the birthday that keeps on giving! Wait until you hear how Chris spent my birthday.. :)
