Gravelly Point

It was a gorgeous weekend and Chris was working in D.C. on Friday so we decided we'd try to go to the Nationals game that evening. We didn't plan ahead so we decided to try to buy tickets once we got there...

It was packed. The Nats were playing the Orioles (the only team D.C. had until the Nats came back to town in 2005) and the weather was great so the game was really popular. The cheapest tickets were over $50, and we weren't ready to pay that much money, so unfortunately we had to pass on the game.

We were already out so to salvage our evening, we all decided to head to Gravelly Point to watch the planes take off from and at Reagan.

It was a lot of fun and turned out to be a great evening even though things didn't go according to plan. I will definitely take the time to go back when we've got an entire evening to spend and bring a picnic along next time!

Cool! I heard Capt. Sulley talking on the radio this morning and he mentioned the difficulty of take off and landing at Regan.

Yay! Way to make the most of a sad situation! You very graciously did not mention that you and Chris gave up two free tickets that were offered you, because you still thought at that point that all 4 of us would be able to get cheap seats!
