James River

Last weekend Chris and I went out on the James River with some friends for the afternoon. We hadn't planned on doing much that weekend because we were getting ready to go away this week for a long weekend (more on that later), but when a friend called to invite us out for a few hours, we were thrilled. It was another one of those 100+ degree days so when the boat wasn't moving, it was pretty gross. We anchored for a little while though to swim and cool off and it was a great way to spend some time in the Williamsburg heat. We cruised down to check out Jamestown Settlement, which I had never seen before (from land or river). It was pretty neat to see, but probably cooler if you get the tour and learn about the history behind everything.

We also saw the Jamestown-Scotland ferry making the crossing - another thing that I actually have never done despite having lived here already. I will have to check it out at some point when I have some time and it is not so hot!
