Telling the family
We wanted to share our families' reactions to the news when we told them we were going to be having a kid in late summer, so Chris surreptitiously recorded the moments that we told them. For his family, it was his mom's birthday weekend so we wrapped up a picture of baby Strat and had her open it with all the family home. For my family, we had no such event to disguise the news so we had everyone sit down and showed them a picture on the TV telling them we were showing pictures of something else. I used facetime to tell Eric the news since he wasn't home at the same time, which was equally awesome. We really wanted to tell everyone in person since he/she will be the first grandchild for both sides of the family so unfortunately we had to tell them a week apart due to my work schedule. Despite that, it ended up working out really well.
