Homeownership

I know I've been delinquent in posting pictures of our new house, but to be fair, we haven't even been here a month, we were on vacation for a week of that, and we've been really busy catching up on ever increasing numbers of doctors appointments, learning how to be homeowners, and cleaning all the dust and grime away from the past owner, hopefully before the baby comes. For example, the other weekend we decided to tackle windows. They were super dirty and some of the blinds were so coated in dust that it seemed like they'd never been opened. We took down all the blinds and brought them outside to clean them on the driveway. While they were drying on the fence, we went back in and washed all the windows as best we could.

We also had to figure out what to do about having a lawn since we've never had to mow before and didn't have a lawn mower. We borrowed one from our neighbor and Chris mowed about 30 feet of our grass before the blade fell off and we had to call and tell our neighbor his lawnmower was broken.

We went out last weekend and bought a lawnmower, Chris put it together, and then we finally got the lawn mowed a couple weeks later. While Chris was mowing, I decided to start tackling some weeding that really, really needs to get done, but as you can see from the picture below, I got one plant out before I got hot and tired and went back inside. We still haven't come any further along on that...

After we broke his lawnmower, our awesome neighbor still offered to come over the next day and scrape/paint the trim around the skylight in our living room. It's about a thousand degrees up there so the heat had caused the paint to be peeling away. Considering we know nothing about homeownership, having such a knowledgeable and generous neighbor like this is a huge boon!

So as you can see, these are just a couple of things that have been keeping us occupied these past weeks, but regardless, I truly am going to try and post pictures of the house as soon as possible. I was going to do it tonight but by the time I got around to trying to take pictures, it was pitch black outside already! I will try earlier tomorrow :)

Skylight! How nice and bright that will make your living space.

Really lush grass you've got. Terry would be lusting for that!
