Painting the baby's room

One day after work the week before the baby shower, Chris and I decided to paint the walls of the baby's room. We already had the paint and other supplies and I had spent the morning taping of windows, doors, and molding, as well as taking off the outlet covers. As I may have mentioned before, the walls were sort of purple-tinted. It wasn't a bad color, but we wanted to go more neutral in case we have a boy instead of a girl.

Before (purplish):

During (top is old paint and the bottom is the wet, new paint):

After (gray - as you can see, it got pretty dark out from the time we started painting until the time we finished up with two coats):

Now that we had the walls the color we wanted them, my mom and sister stuck around an extra day after the baby shower to help us paint some stripes. It was quite a bit of work, but ended up coming out really well. We taped the walls the night before so that in the morning we could start right up with the painting.

Before (measuring, taping, sealing):

During (we also re-painted an old bookshelf that my parents had in their basement):

After (removing the tape):

I love the way it turned out, but it was certainly time consuming! We will probably wait awhile before painting anything else in the house :) Also, the crib arrived yesterday so we will be putting that together this week...hopefully this baby can hold out until we're ready!

I love this room! I have always wanted to do stripes but got overwhelmed at the thought of all that taping and making the stripes level and straight. Yea for teamwork. My favorite picture is everyone looking excited as Katie pulls the tape and does the big 'reveal"! Great work everyone. It's a beautiful baby's room!
