Earth Day

One of our friends is a Biology professor at W&M and was putting on an event for Earth Day on campus. It was kid-friendly so we decided to go check it out.

The girls were able to get their face painted (or in Jane's case, her hand).

There were two butterfly tents that you could go in and feed and hold butterflies - one was an all monarch tent (brings back memories of the Pacific Grove Monarch Festival!), and one had all sorts of different butterflies in it. The first tent was quite successful, but by the time we did the second tent, Jane had lost all her inhibitions and was snatching butterflies off of bushes and trying to shake them around so I had to herd my crew out of the tent.

There was even a reading of "The Lorax" by the president of the College, Taylor Reveley, and a visit from the Lorax himself!

There were tons of craft and coloring stations, music, and free food for students. Overall it was a great festival!
