January wrap-up

The month of January was not normal this year. There were 7 snow days - Eleanor never had a full week of school this month. We all had the stomach flu (except for the babies) and then Eleanor and Jane both had colds for a week. It was bitter cold a lot of the month and then we got a handful of days that were 60+ degrees. We spent a lot of time isolated due to sickness and a lot of time inside due to it being too cold outside for the babies or pouring rain. We also had Chris' Aunt Caroline come from Washington state to help us out for a week, which was a wonderful visit!

I spent a lot of the weekends at church out in the hallway. The babies can't always make it through the service and we aren't putting the babies into the nursery yet because of their size and also because unfortunately, we can't be sure those in the nursery (babies and volunteers) get the flu shot - the flu has been so bad this year and the twins are too young for the shot. Our area is swamped with people sick with the flu right now!

The girls got new dresses from my grandparents from Singapore! Despite the weather, they have been wearing them non-stop.

Once in a blue moon we do tummy time.

Sometimes we were so desperate with all the inside time that we even went out to play in the rain.

We took walks when we could and the ditches in our neighborhood were frozen over!

I had to brave a doctors appointment for the twins alone due to them taking forever and Chris running out of time (he had set aside 2 hours). There were 6 shots and 2 liquid vaccines involved - it was chaos. One of the times I really wish we had family in town to help!

That appointment went so bad that I stopped on the way home and we had Frostys for dinner.

We've had some sweet playdates with friends.

We've gone to lots of basketball games.

Chris' Aunt Caroline came to visit and help us! She is an amazing woman and dedicates her time back home in Washington to a family with 20 children, many of whom have severe disabilities or special needs. It was a wonderful visit - we wish she lived closer!

When Gaby came back down to pick up Aunt Caroline, we went to Bruster's for lunch.

Onward to February!

Looks like a crazy month having to be stuck inside so much! That doctor's appointment sounded awful. I'm glad you survived - definitely deserved a frosty at the end of that. And Chris's aunt seems like an awesome woman, I'd love to meet her!
