Backyard

One of the big projects we wanted to tackle in this house was the backyard. The backyard was essentially a jungle. There were vines connecting all the trees - and essentially the back yard had been abandoned by the previous owners. They put a small fence in around their patio to let their dogs out and the back was left to the deer. Plus there was no way to get from the small inside fence to the outside fence. So we wanted to take some trees out, take out the little inside fence and fix up part of the back fence to reclaim some of the yard. Initially we started doing it ourselves, spending Saturdays outside cutting down trees, but frequently we would cut down a few trees and they would just stay standing because the vines would be holding them upright. We eventually realized we were going to have to bring in some heavy lifters.

Here are some of the vines. It was actually pretty creepy. Kind of Stranger Things-esque...

Pictures of the backyard (after we had already cut down some trees!).

In progress after we got some heavy lifters in.

We put some grass seed down and will do it again in the spring, too.

Here's hoping we have some semblance of a yard by the summer!
