The Palace Gardens

The other day we went down to Colonial Williamsburg and it was all but abandoned!

We walked over to the Governor's Palace and then decided we should head into the gardens, which they recently opened to the public. This is the back side of the Governor's Palace.

We went through the maze.

We climbed the hill behind the maze.

And we found a secret door behind the hill! We couldn't open it, but it reminds me of the passageway in Harry Potter to the whomping willow. I really wonder where it leads!

We walked around the lake.

And we found a mini replica of the Crim Dell Bridge.

We explored the actual garden. They're growing all sorts of lettuces, herbs, vegetables, and there are even what looks like peach trees?

We explored the flower gardens, too.

We walked through the tree archways.

And then we sat down while Ben spent a whole lot of time throwing the pieces of shells that lined the walkways.

It was beautiful and a great day to be out!

This is amazing that you had such a beautiful day and not one other person in all the pictures! How wonderful to have the private tour of the gardens and maze...Beautiful!

How wonderful to have such beautiful places to explore during these times. I guess that's the silver lining. I presume Ben was the only one interested in throwing shells :-) ??
