September wrap-up

September...and all the kids are in school! I also started a new part-time job, so it feels like there are big changes afoot. We're all adjusting, everyone is playing soccer, and so far school is going smoothly for everyone - we have some good-fit teachers this year and I am very thankful.

Tweenager Eleanor walking home from school with her playaway from the library.

Rosie and Ben sing "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" on the way to the bus stop on a rainy day...

On the second day of school I got a call from the school nurse that Rosie had been stung by a wasp at recess. She had three swollen fingers on one hand when she got home, and the other hand had a splinter sticking out of her thumb from a toy at the end of the school day. She was holding her hands super strangely the entire way home, and as usual for Rosie, was very stoic about the pain.

Cuties running to catch the bus.

Rosie skip its on the way to the bus stop...

I've been kayaking on the river once or twice this month.

Rosie has decided to start doing some chores of her own accord. She washed all the dishes one night. (She started without soap or a sponge so we had to work backwards, but she got the hang of it!)

We went to an event at the local lavender farm and then had a petting area for sheep where the kids got to feed them, a hayride, and other fun activities.

Chris and I were able to go out on a bike ride one Sunday morning up the bridge to the Chickahominy river.

Jane discovered that some of her second-grade art work was being displayed at the library!

Fun craft time...

I got an almost perfect Euchre hand.

Our friends work at a church and have Mondays off. We went out for a boat ride one Monday since all our youngest kids went off to school and we now all have more flexibility.

My girls wearing Rosie's uniforms to school this week.

Ben and Rosie decided to sleep in separate beds for the first time. It only lasted one night and then they moved back in together, but I'm sure it's coming soon!

The twins got to help check the pool chemicals (a local year-round team is using our pool this year so the pool isn't closing. We were at the park one evening so they got to go help out.

Eleanor and Jane played "cafe" with friends and Ben and Rosie got to visit.

So many lovely trail walks!

Eleanor is finally able to change out her earrings, and she is quite excited about it!

School is taking its toll on this little dude. He is quite tired by the end of the week...

Our old neighbors Ben and Courtney came for a weekend trip and Jane got to meet Jane!

We celebrated Chris' birthday with gifts and chocolate mousse pie!

We got to celebrate cousin Matty's birthday with him!

We braved Hall-o-Scream the last day of the month. We had Busch Bucks to burn and two all-day dining passes that were set to expire so we tried to get in and out in a couple hours before things got too crazy. Everything really starts around 6 and we barely made it out in time, the kids got very startled on the way out!

I love the fall. I love summer, the pool, the beach, and the relaxed season, but fall feels fresh and I'm ready for it! It's basically been overcast or rainy for the last week and while I would love some sun, the weather changing has been lovely.
