Spring Break - Botanic Garden and National Gallery

Chris and I both had busy weeks this year for Spring Break, but we did take a couple days off work and head up to visit Gaby and go to D.C.

We walked around the Capitol, where Eleanor ended up being interviewed by Voice of America on the upcoming eclipse.

We headed over to the National Botanic Garden. We got to see how some things grew - the most interesting being bananas! The kids also did a scavenger hunt through the museum/garden.

We went from there to the National Gallery of Art. There are some truly amazing things in the collection there!

We saw Degas' ballerina statues and some of his dancer paintings...

Monet...

Van Gogh!

Seurat...

The only Da Vinci painting on display in the Americas...

Vermeer...

Rubens... (among many other artists...)

Then we headed down into the cafe section where Chris bought the kids gelato...

We took the walkway underground to the modern section:

We saw a giant blue chicken on the roof...

We saw Kandinsky...

Klimt...

Matisse... (again, among many others)

More pictures from Spring Break coming...
