My parents visit!

My parents hit the road on Sunday to come see our new place!  They came bearing gifts, too :)  Some chairs and a table for the deck so we could enjoy sitting outside - and it's just in time, too, because it's finally getting cool enough in the evenings that Chris is not totally against being outside.  Not to mention my new housewarming plant to replace the old one...

We took a walk around town so they could see where Chris' new job is, had lunch at a new place that opened up about the time we were moving out of the house earlier this summer, and just enjoyed a fairly relaxing afternoon while my mom mourned the fact that she planted a magnolia tree in our backyard once we ran into one (in the picture) and she saw how large they grow.

So while I'm not totally giving up on summer yet, I'm slowly resigning myself to fall.  I'm just focusing on the things I love about the fall season because I know it passes quickly into perpetual cold.  We've eaten dinner outside three nights in a row, turned our air conditioning off for the evening and have all the doors and windows open - and it feels great!

how fun! Love your new porch! And I agree, fall has its benefits, but hate the looming thought of winter.

I think Magnolias are so pretty...too bad they don't smell that nice :) I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one resisting the coming of fall a little bit!
