Oktoberfestiversary

A couple weeks ago, Chris took a trip up to Boston and Maine for work so Eleanor and I went up to northern Virginia to celebrate her aunt and uncle's first wedding anniversary! There was an Oktoberfest theme, what with it being October and all, so there was bratwurst, pretzels, rotkohl, and spaetzle for dinner, along with Schwarzwaelderkirschtorte (a cherry cake from the Black Forest region of Germany), and of course, wedding cake, for dessert.

Because it was also our last big trip before I head back to work, we also met up with my mom and sister while we were up there for dinner. It was the first time I had taken Eleanor to a legitimate restaurant and she behaved so well. She sat in her car seat and just looked around quietly for most of the time until she got hungry while we were paying the bill.

We had to get back by Saturday afternoon because I had previously committed to volunteering at an event that afternoon, so though it was a short stay, it was a lot of fun.
