More swim

Well, this summer has been so different than other years. The saving grace for us (besides a couple family visits) was our pool. Our pool was open and our swim team decided to have a season (unlike many others). We did not compete in the swim union (VPSU) down here, but it was just intra-squad competition and personal bests. Parents weren't allowed into the pool and there could only be two swimmers per lane (on opposite sides), they had temperature checks, masks for coaches, and no coaches could get in the water (hence kids having to swim across the pool independently before the season started). It still was so amazing that they decided to extend the swim season into September just for fun and our girls are thrilled.

I am so proud of the girls. By the end of the official season, even Jane was able to swim all four strokes across the pool (though both girls DQ in butterfly and Jane also DQs in breaststroke). Eleanor would make champs times for 6 and unders in both freestyle and backstroke, and in freestyle she would be one of the top swimmers in the VPSU. Next year she'll be swimming in the 7-8 year old group so she won't be the fastest anymore, but it's fun to see her progress, especially from very, very slow times last year (Jane swims faster as a 4 year old than Eleanor did last year at 5). They both love swim team, so much so that Jane cried when she found out it was ending. We are thankful for another bonus month!
