Meet season is here and these kids are pretty excited about it! Our first meet was away and super hot. I timed the first half of the meet.
It actually was Jane's first official meet, since our team didn't swim in the competitive league last year due to COVID. She did so well that despite being 5, she actually qualified for champs in both her strokes and ended up in scoring heats for her next meet.
Our next meet was at home, which is always fun. I recorded the girls' swims because Chris is the announcer for the home meets and had to run back in to announce following heats. Jane was in scoring lanes for free and back but came in fourth and Eleanor was in a scoring heat for breast and ended up scoring points and narrowly missing a champs time by 0.01 seconds.
Uncle Rob and Auntie Mollie with cousin Robert ended up walking over from their house to watch the girls swim free. It is so cool that they live here right now, but it really just hasn't even sunken in yet!
Their third meet (our second and last home meet) was great. Both girls set personal bests for freestyle (Jane was the fastest 6 & under girls free styler this meet).
Eleanor qualified for champs in breaststroke (her goal this summer).
Chris did all the announcing and Ben and Rosie went in for a few visits.
Crazy Dave came and bought Ben and Rosie ice cream much to their excitement.
And then perhaps the most exciting part of the night, the Stratton adult brothers competed in a parent 200m IM relay. It was amazing. Robert was celebrating his birthday this weekend so his parents were in town visiting and they all came to the meet to see the girls swim.
He ended up getting roped into swimming backstroke and Chris swam breast.
It has been a great start to the season! We are so sad it's more than halfway over already! (Also, notice in the video above Chris noticing Rosie for the first time after the relay has already started, hah!)
