Last pool post

Since school started before Labor Day this year, our pool decided to remain open on weekends for 3 weeks in September. The weather those weekends was pretty great for pool weather (low 80s) and the water temperature was still warm enough. While I love the changing of the seasons and am ready to move into fall, it was nice to have one last "hurrah" at the pool. There are a lot of families we only see between Memorial Day and Labor Day every year, so it was nice to see them to shorten that distance a bit.

We were really very surprised and impressed by all the kids this summer. Eleanor and Jane both swam for points a handful of times at meets despite being at the bottom of their age bracket this year. They set personal bests in all their strokes, made it to Champs for the first time (Eleanor would have last year had we competed) and Jane swam her first legal fly and breast this year. Rosie became water safe swimming all over the pool, and even has a pretty legitimate freestyle. She also learned how to dive this summer. Ben started slow but started willingly putting his face in the water, started doggy-paddling, and then eventually put his head down and started swimming! He also has a very cute "freestyle."

I'm happy to hang up the towels for the season and move more substantially into the school year, but it was another great summer at the pool. We are so thankful for what a great pool we have.
