Massage and ice cream

So this week is what our hospital calls "week of the nurse" and what everyone else calls "nurse appreciation week". To me, that doesn't really mean much of anything, but it certainly was wonderful yesterday because a couple of massage therapists came into work and gave us all free massages - best work-related event ever. I had a new employee shadowing me for the day, which I don't ever mind doing; however, it just makes everything a lot slower because you have to explain and teach evvveerryything. I typically enjoy showing people how to do things, but it was a very busy day yesterday, so the massage was a huge stress-reliever half-way through my day.

Totally unrelated - a couple days ago, Häagen-Dazs was giving away free cones and Chris and I found a store nearby that was participating. I had some sort of caramel something that ended up being delicious. I don't know that I've ever been to a Häagen-Dazs before, but their ice cream is good!

We got our cones and then walked through CW after work. I really would love to live within walking distance someday!

The Benefits of Coaching....Wait, what?

So yesterday at work a UPS box came for me, which seemed a little strange since I couldn't recall ordering anything.  It was made out to "Chris Stratton, Men's Basketball Coach," so clearly these people hadn't done their research.  If they had, it would have read: "Chris Stratton, Real American Hero," or "Chris Stratton, Fantasy Football Expert."  Naturally curious as to the contents of the package, I opened up that bad boy and this is what I pulled out:

If you can't see what this is (took the picture with my phone so it's not great), it is a portable cooler advertising a product call Rockin' Refuel, which is a post-workout protein shake.  There was a letter attached talking about the benefits their product could offer to my team, and when I opened the cooler, there were free samples:

If you look you can even see the freezer gel packs that are in there, and they worked because the stuff was still cold.  I tried one of the chocolate ones yesterday afternoon (although not post-workout.  unless you guys count managing my fantasy football roster a workout?  It was pretty strenuous you guys....).  I've got to say it was quite good, and I definitely think my protein levels went up.  I think I could really enjoy being a fake coach, and I hope more people send me free samples of stuff that I can recommend to my hypothetical sports teams.  I'm looking at you Chipotle.

Election Day Map

I definitely wanted to take advantage of free things people were giving out yesterday for having voted. Chik-fil-a was giving out free sandwiches at some locations, but not in DC. So here's what my path looked like:

1. Arrive in line at Key Elementary School to vote
2. Go to Court House Metro
3. Arrive at Farragut West Metro
4. Arrive at the office
5. Go to Starbucks to get free coffee for voting
6. Arrive at the office
7. Go to Krispy Kreme to get a free doughnut for voting (also check Ben & Jerry's on 19th Street for a free scoop but they are closed for the winter. How can you offer a free scoop to everybody who voted but be closed for the winter? I smell a scandal.)
8. Arrive at the office
9. Go to team happy hour at Rumors and watch the first results come in
10. Arrive at the office to pick up stuff
11. Go to Farragut West Metro
12. Arrive at Courthouse Metro
13. Arrive home.
