As I've mentioned previously (I think), the semester is winding down which makes things at my job very busy for awhile. The academic portion of my job is wrapped up in last minute things for students, the last day of classes, and gearing up for exam week. There also seems to be a bunch of ceremonies for students getting inducted into various honor societies, etc. The international studies portion of my job is getting ready to send a few big groups of students and professors overseas for a month which means a ton of loose ends need to be tied up in the next week or so, not to mention goodbye parties for the graduating international students and visiting scholars.
I was prepared for this week to be a little overwhelming and wasn't really looking forward to it, but this morning one of my favorite professors brought me flowers.
It made my day! People have been admiring my irises all day long, as I have. And I got a few things done that I thought would take longer than I did - so this week is already looking up!
I also have to say that I now have an entire windowsill full of plants that I'm trying to keep alive. I don't have the best track record, but I'm doing my best because they're all so pretty! From left to right we've got the cute little housewarming plant from my grandparents, the irises from today, the Gerbera daisies from my mom on Easter, and the strawberry plant I bought in Harrisonburg:
We'll see how long I can keep this going...
