Hey everybody, Chris here.  Last week I got a random e-mail from the Richmond-area FCA leadership board saying that they had some extra tickets to this week's U.S. Open Golf Tournament if anybody was interested in going.  This year's Open is being held at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, so it's pretty close to home.  My dad and I were able to get tickets to today's practice round.  While the practice rounds aren't quite as cool as the actual tournament, there are far less spectators there so you can get right up close to the action pretty much wherever you want.  Here was one of the welcome signs as we walked in:  

Here's a picture of the Clubhouse from the 10th green looking back over the water.  If you catch any of the tournament on TV this weekend, you'll definitely see this building again.

The most popular practice group of the day featured Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Hunter Mahan, and Jeff Overton, the first three of whom are in the World Top 20.  Those guys can hit the ball a mile.

This last picture is for my mom just so she can see how close I was to Phil Mickelson, who is her favorite golfer.

The course was by far the nicest one I've ever been on.  It would be awesome to play there one day.  I thought about signing up for membership, but according to Wikipedia, it costs $150,000 just for the initial membership fee.  Yeah....so I'll be happy to take monetary donations from all of you so that I can do that.  It was a great day with perfect weather for me and my dad to be able to go out and watch the best in the world play golf.  If anybody else ever gets the chance to go watch a PGA event, I highly recommend it!
