Rosie is nine months old today! She is definitely smaller than her brother - she weighs 14 pounds, 4 ounces (2nd percentile), is 26.25 inches long (7th percentile and 39% of the way to my adult height), and her head circumference is 17.5 inches (68th percentile). Rosie slept in the crib overnight for the first time with Ben about a week after she turned eight months, but still was waking up about twice a night to eat! We had a terrible stretch where we were busy and travelling for several weeks and both babies slept horribly...Rosie was waking up more than twice to eat, so this week, we decided we were going to start sleep training. When we got home and adjusted, she started sleeping better...7:30 pm - 6:00 am with a dream feed around 10:00 pm, but she still wakes up around 2:00 am and cries for a few minutes. She also still takes two long naps every day. Rosie continues to try most foods you put in front of her, but swallowing the food is a different story. She seems to like vegetables more than fruit and purees more than solid foods. Occasionally she's very successful, but sometimes nothing goes down. Rosie also recognizes the sign for milk and gets very excited when we sign that to her. She continues to sit up independently and gets more and more stable by the day. She got her second tooth this month - the other bottom middle one - and went through a period where I felt sure she would get another but it never showed up! Rosie rolls around the floor with ease and pivots back and forth on her stomach, but more recently I've caught her up on her knees or toes trying to scoot forward. I think she will be crawling soon. Rosie is no longer swaddled at night or for naps because she is just too active. In fact, sometimes we have to go in and break the babies up if Rosie has scooted too far onto Ben's side of the crib. She is such an instigator already!
